Protecting Your Water: Understanding The Water Rights Lawsuit
March 27, 2024 | Lynden, WA
Whatcom County residents are invited to a special informational event in Lynden on the evening of Wednesday, March 27th, where they can make sure they’re prepared for the state’s upcoming water rights adjudication court case.
Local water users who rely on private wells or surface water–including homeowners as well as farmers–will receive court summons via mail likely sometime this summer, requiring them to file details about their water use with the Whatcom County Superior Court.
At Wednesday’s event at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds, several top water rights experts will guide attendees through the process of filing with the court, including important details about documenting their specific water rights and historical water use.
Specialists expected to present include:
Bill Clarke, water rights attorney
Bill Clarke, Attorney at Law & Government Affairs
Andy Dunn, hydrogeologist
RH2 Engineering
Katie Faber, water resources scientist
Associated Earth Sciences, Inc.
Jill VanHulle, hydrogeologist
